Baton Rouge O Scalers is a group of people who enjoy building and operating 2-rail O Scale model trains. We usually meet once a week for fellowship and operation.  While O Scale may not be the most popular size in model railroading, its advantages are numerous.  The physical size makes it much easier to work with and highly visible details makes it preferable over the smaller scales.

Our group originally came together through the Baton Rouge N-Scale Club.  The founding members of our organization were also interested in N Scale and built layout modules to the national standard, know as N-TRAK.  Once it was determined that fellow members had a shared interest in O Scale, we set out to build a modular layout on which to run our trains.

Many of our construction techniques transferred over from our N Scale experience.  As such, our O Scale modular layout rapidly became a reality.  For straight sections, the NMRA standards were followed.  The two mainlines are located on 6" and 10" centers from the front modules.  Due to the space limits of our original building, our corner modules were build with a rather tight radius of 36" and 31".  recently, we have created wider 58" radius curves on which we can run larger engines and longer cars. Our O Scale layout has been featured as a cover story in O-Scale News and was awarded First Prize at the Great American Train Show.

Many affordable O Scale plastic locomotives and freight cars are available today.  Several would-be O Scalers do not participate simply because they do not know what is on today's market.  While most hobby shops do not stock numerous O Scale products, they will order these from available catalog sources.  Several mail-order houses have excellent reputations and can be found in the pages of leading model railroad magazines.

If you would like to see the beauty of O Scale and have any questions, please feel free to contact us at the emails listed below.  We will do our best to help anyone interested in the world of O Scale.

We sincerely hope that you come by and enjoy our layout!
